J-Woww by Perfect Tan Bikini

In mid-December, I was back in the sand to shoot Jenni Farley, A.K.A. – J-Woww (from the MTV show, ‘Jersey Shore’) in her new bikini line on the beautiful beaches of Key Biscayne, FL. J-Woww by Perfect Tan Bikini is a truly one-of-a-kind design which allows you to achieve the ‘Perfect Tan’ (hence the name) by removing the bikini straps while your top stays securely in place. “How does it work,” you ask? Simple, the top is lined with a special Velcro which clings to your chest-fro… totally kidding. The bikinis are actually lined with a water-resistant double-sided silicone adhesive. Pretty clever, huh?

Tropic Beauty 2012 Calendar

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! As we get ready to enter a new year, I’d like to give you a sneak peak at the Tropic Beauty 2012 Calendar which I shot back in August. Christina W. – Mega Models Miami

Meet Christina from Mega Model Management in Miami. I recently shot her (‘snap, snap’ not ‘bang, bang’) with the help of Yen Ryder (hair stylist). We were all set with plans to shoot in Key Biscayne but after taking a peek at the garden surrounding her condo, I knew we needed to travel no further. As I would only have access to this beautiful and unique setting while working with Christina, staying put was a no-brainer. That’s one of the things I love most about photography… there are no holds barred and every shoot comes with its own set of opportunities which you can choose to resist, ignore or embrace. I always go for the latter of the three.

Viktoria Makrianis – Elite Miami

Here’s another set from my last visit to Miami featuring Viktoria Makrianis. Once again, Yen (the great hair stylist) and I dodged some nasty weather as we were greeted with clear skies that morning. It’s a good thing we took advantage of it because I was shooting in 35mph winds the following day. I’ll post the images from the tropical storm shoot in a week from now. Kasey Ashcraft – Wilhelmina Miami

Well, it’s been a while since my last post but that’s about to change! I’m finally getting settled from a two month streak of non-stop shooting in Orlando, Miami, New York and LA. While traveling left me with little time for blogging (or sleep for that matter), it’s allowed me to stockpile enough web content to easily last me through the winter.

I’ll start this week with Kasey Ashcraft of Wilhelmina. We teamed up with Yen Ryder (hair stylist) and Amber Flowers (MUA) from the Glam Squad for a shoot in South Beach during my last trip to Miami. When Kasey pulled out this first outfit, I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical and thought it looked ‘Mom-ish’… until she put it on. She kinda had a Marisa Miller meets Baywatch thing going on – and that’s a compliment! Am I right or am I right?

Nayara Bandeira

When Nayara and I set out for our shoot a few weeks back, we had less than 2 hours before the sun completely vanished into the horizon. Luckily, that’s all the time we needed to pull off a few looks and walk away with some quality photos. I’d love to take half of the credit but I’m convinced that a monkey with a camera could capture great images if you threw Nayara in front of the lens. Take a peek at the final results and judge for yourself…

After cleaning up the mess from my punishing night shoot with Michelle Pieroway and one hour of sleep, I met up with Lisa Morales for a morning shoot on the beautiful sand of Sunny Isles Beach. The brilliant sunrise and perfect weather seemed like an atonement from Mother Nature for the wrath she dealt me just a few hours prior. It was also reassuring to work with Lisa, a top notch model who was a finalist in last year’s Maxim Hometown Hotties contest along with my pal Ashley Vickers. You can catch Lisa hosting music countdowns every Saturday at 1pm on Telemundo – the channel which proves comedy to be universal, because it cracks me up despite my inability to understand it. So without further ado…

Orlando Style Magazine – September Editorial

When it comes to shooting assignments, as well as most aspects of life, I tend to get bored by lack of variety. That’s why I’ve always taken interest in a wide range of photographic genres and the reason for my excitement when asked to shoot the September fashion editorial for Orlando Style Magazine (in stores now).

David Siegel, owner and founder of Westgate Resorts, and his wife Jacqueline graciously allowed us to use their home in Windermere as a backdrop for the shoot. Our lovely models were Belle Mareci, Malone Thomas and Jackie Hoag. Styling was done by Tammara Kohler of Fuzed Fashion with hair by Prive Salon Orlando and makeup by Sunha Julie Fajardo. A special thanks goes to Robby Clay for assisting me during this full day shoot. Check out the final images below and be sure to grab a print copy at your local Central Florida newsstand!

Michelle Pieroway

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you combined a photo shoot with sand, water, wind, and complete darkness — while battling the flu? You get a massive roundhouse kick to the face via Mother Nature, that’s what happens!

During my night shoot with Michelle Pieroway, the first blow was delivered by a rogue wave which took my backpack for a swim. Luckily, the contents of my bag (which included my phone, wallet, battery pack, and Speedlight) survived the dunk after a frantic towel wipe down. Only a few minutes after I continued shooting, I smelled something burning. That something turned out to be a small electrical fire inside my ring flash — which I believe was caused by ocean spray (not the delicious fruit drink).

While switching to my Speedlight, I placed my camera atop a giant rock in an attempt to keep it sand-free. The very next moment, I was to learn that Mother Nature knows no mercy… as a brief gust of wind sent my camera tumbling down the rock into wet sand. Talk about kicking a man when he’s down!

Despite the technical difficulties, Michelle hung in there like a champ and I managed to keep my cool while walking away with some keepers (and a runny nose). Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot…
