The three of us were in an old wooden shed in complete darkness as the shoot was nearing its end on what seemed like the hottest day of the year. Michelle was soaking wet while laying in a pile of hay that likely housed a large community of spiders. Meanwhile, I was dangling from the rafters directly above her using one arm to keep from falling and the other to hold my camera with a cumbersome lighting unit attached to it. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a third arm to fight off the flying palmettos (or “Kamikaze’s” as we referred to them) which were instinctively dive bombing into the only light within several acres of land… the modeling lamp attached to my camera. Oh, and let’s not forget about Yen… she was waiting patiently on the sidelines with a hair brush in one hand and a bottle of ‘Off’ in the other. Needless to say, we bonded very closely that day and should all be tested for the West Nile Virus.

Yen having too much fun on oil and water detail…

(actually, that first pic was Yen pretending to be a creeper and I’d say she pulled it off perfectly)

Leslie and I shot in the industrial part of town and as you might guess, she was quite a distraction to the surrounding workers. I’d bet local work productivity dropped by about 90% that day. One guy almost drove a forklift into a wall while he was rubber-necking our shoot. Another worker mozied into the abandoned hangar that we were shooting in and began tinkering with the electrical boxes on the wall next to us. The funny part was, all of the wires were clearly severed right out of the completely non-functioning unit. He might as well have pulled up a chair and started munching on some popcorn. lol

Leslie was a great sport considering the onlookers and the only challenge was trying to catch a serious face between her laughing spells. Check out the pics below and be sure to click on each image to view a larger version. Enjoy!

Behind the scenes: Leslie sporting a fashionable new look and the launch of NASA’s Atlantis for its final mission.

You see… during my last shoot at this location, I was paid an unexpected visit from the Orlando PD along with the owner of the neighboring property. Luckily, I didn’t get in any trouble once they realized that we weren’t stripping stolen vehicles, which had apparently happened there before. Not only was the neighbor understanding, he also hired me a week later to shoot portraits of his fiancées daughter on Prom night. It was during the portrait session that he explained his original intent of confronting us with a shotgun before finally deciding to call the cops. To put this into a comical perspective, he went from almost shooting me (literally) to hiring me for a shoot. What an ironic turnaround!!

The family was so happy with the Prom photos, they welcomed me to use their property for any future shoots. I quickly took them up on this offer when it came time to shoot Gabriella. I’ll simply bullet the highlights of the shoot so we can get on with the pictures:

• Joey and Gabriella almost get lost in the woods in a small off-road vehicle
• Horse attempts to stick its tongue in Gabriella’s ear (see last photo below)
• A single fire ant bites Gabriella 7 times on her left butt cheek
• Joey hits a small mammal with his car on the way home
